Vector Grid: a beginner's guide

The idea

Vector Grid is about placing pieces on a grid to complete full lines. Completed lines clear and score; a crowded grid leaves you with nowhere to put the next piece.

Where the points are

Clearing lines is the whole game. Clearing more than one line at a time is worth more than clearing them one by one, so it is usually worth setting up a bigger clear when you can do it quickly.

Habits that help

• keep the grid flat rather than building towers
• leave open space on one side for awkward pieces
• clear before you are forced to, not after
• do not stall - a 30-second round rewards steady speed

Common mistakes

Chasing a large clear that never comes is the most expensive mistake in this game. If the shape you need has not arrived, take the smaller clear and keep the grid open.
